(This year marks the centennial of the founding of the Catholic Guardian Society, which was formed to care for those leaving foster care and re-entering communities. A year and a half ago, that agency merged with the even older Catholic Home Bureau, America’s first foster home agency, to form the Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau (CGSHB).
It’s worthwhile to recall these non-profit groups and what they have done over the years to help at-risk young people, among the “least among you” that Christ urged his followers to help. The need is even greater in this age for such groups than ever before, as families come under assault from every direction. Please reminder, then, that aiding these groups will bring the kind of “springtime” that Vianney spoke about to a young person that desperately needs it.)
